​​​Part-Time Direct Services Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION


Jahajee Sisters is seeking a Part-Time Direct Services Manager to oversee programs we offer to Indo-Caribbean women, girls and gender non-binary people to support their wellness, healing and empowerment as well as connect to direct services that will enable their ability to thrive. This will be a temporary three-month position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Circle Program (Monthly)
​- 
Manage our Community Circle program, monthly gatherings that support women, girls and non-binary people to connect to community and resources, build relationships with each other, and receive support for their personal empowerment and growth.
- Promote monthly Circles by creating marketing materials and conducting outreach to Jahajee Sisters Grassroots Action Team members, Emergency Fund recipients, and the wider community.
- Curate the monthly space by facilitating or bringing in guest speakers who can provide empowerment activities that will support people to center their wellness and healing. 
- Oversee other program logistics like ensuring the venue is booked for the Circle and that refreshments are provided to participants.

Emergency Fund (Ongoing)
- Manage our Emergency Fund, a program that supports Indo-Caribbean survivors and working class immigrants who are in crisis to access financial assistance and services.
- Conduct a comprehensive intake with clients who reach out to us for support in order to adequately assess their needs and provide emotional support.
- Process financial assistance for clients who are in immediate crisis to use for rent, childcare and groceries. 
- Make referrals if needed (i.e. immigration, housing, DV, mental health, job training etc).
- Support clients to apply for government benefits when appropriate (i.e. SNAP, Medicaid, housing assistance, COVID relief, etc.).
- Build a list of trusted, culturally competent and affordable direct service providers that we can refer clients to.
- Serve as an advocate for the client even after referrals are made to confirm they are receiving follow-up care/support from partner organizations.
- Work in collaboration with partners who make direct referrals to Jahajee Sisters to provide culturally competent support  (i.e. Queens Family Justice Center). 
- Manage the Emergency Fund Relations Committee, a team that will conduct monthly phone calls to Emergency Fund recipients to check in, share updates on Jahajee Sisters programs/events/campaigns and deepen into relationships.

Community Outreach (Monthly)
- Support the Advocacy & Campaign Manager with raising awareness about our direct service offerings and Community Circle program through tabling, outreach at community events, and outreach at faith institutions.  - 
- Support working class members who join our organization to access our direct services, attend Community Circles and join our Grassroots Action Team.


QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a licensed social worker who has experience doing case management and providing emotional support to people who are navigating crises through using a trauma-informed lens. This individual would also have experience facilitating workshops for wellness and empowerment.

The ideal candidate will be:
- Extremely organized and able to pay attention to details  
- Highly-motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic
- A clear and proactive communicator who takes initiative  
- Able to receive feedback well and adjust/pivot as needed

Other desirable qualifications include: 
- A commitment to gender justice, racial justice, immigrant rights, and economic justice
- Understanding of healing and transformative justice methodologies 
- Experience working with the organization’s core constituencies: women, gender non-binary, immigrant and queer Indo-Caribbean people


COMPENSATION

This is a Part-Time and temporary three-month position with an hourly rate of $35 an hour. The Direct Services Manager will report to a Co-Director of the organization. As a temporary employee of the organization, the hired individual will be entitled to sick time.
