Sowing Seeds for Justice: Cultivating a New World September 17-19, 2021 REGISTER HERE
Every year, Jahajee Sisters convenes hundreds of community members, partners and allies to build connections, exchange learnings and envision solutions to the social justice challenges we see in the Indo-Caribbean community and beyond. The Summit is a 3-day virtual conference open to all genders from across the globe to engage in dialogue that will mobilize us toward gender justice. It consists of plenaries, cultural performances and workshops featuring an array of speakers and artists from the US, Canada, the UK and the Caribbean. This year's Summit pays homage to our ancestors who experienced a traumatic uprooting from all that was familiar to them. As they stepped onto ships leaving everything behind, they held onto memories and the few items they could keep on their bodies that would connect them to home. They brought the Ramayana and Quran with them. They also brought tulsi and peepal seeds, which they planted in the depths of cane fields. These seeds blossomed into beautiful trees and were covert sites to practice their spiritual faiths away from the watchful eyes of the British. The trees became powerful cultural reminders for our ancestors and their future generations of our resilience as a people.
Just as our ancestors sowed seeds of strength for us that we embody today, we have a responsibility to sow seeds of justice for future generations. The trauma of displacement and violence they inherited through indentureship also lives within us. As we move through our day to day lives in the vibrant neighborhoods we recreated in New York City and across the diaspora, we see how these traumas have manifested and the healing that is needed.
Jahajee Sisters works to disrupt the generational legacy and normalization of violence in our communities. This year’s Summit will create a courageous space to reflect on the past and the future we want to build together. We believe it is time to collectively cultivate a new world where justice prevails and people of all genders are safe, respected and living in their full dignity.
Stay tuned for more information! We hope you can join us again for a transformational experience.

The Expo area of Hopin is the exhibitor hall of digital vendor booths at our 2021 Summit.
Attendees can visit your Expo booth area and learn about relevant products and resources from you and your company.
The Expo area is great for event-goers to “walk-around” and visit the booths that interest them, interact with the vendors (you!), and take action (such as ask questions, purchase products or services, learn more information!).
Each booth at your event can contain pre-recorded or live video, branded content, Website and Twitter links, special offers, salespeople on live camera, and links to "Register Interest" (sends attendee emails to the vendor email on click).
During Lunch Hangouts 9/18/2021 12:30PM - 2:00PM we will give attendees the ability to chat with you "live" in your booth. During this time if you wish, you may be present in your booth to interact with attendees.
